These charcoal patterned culotte-style shorts are a quintessential example of Japanese minimalist tailoring, prioritizing both architectural form and everyday functionality. The piece is defined by its voluminous, wide-leg silhouette that mimics the drape of a midi skirt while offering the ease of shorts.
Materials
-
Fabric: A durable and smooth blend of 95% Polyester and 5% Rayon.
-
Texture: The fabric features a subtle, heathered charcoal pattern that provides a sophisticated, wool-like visual effect without the weight or heat.
Details
-
Adjustable Waist: Features a unique side buckle strap system, allowing for a customizable fit at the high waist.
-
Architectural Pleating: Multiple deep-set box pleats originate from the waistband, creating a generous, structured volume that flows into the wide leg.
-
Hardware: Detailed with a double-button front closure and high-quality buckles on the lateral straps for a polished, utility-inspired finish.
Construction
-
Wide-Leg Silhouette: An oversized, knee-length cut that provides maximum airflow and a modern, gender-neutral aesthetic.
-
High-Rise Fit: Designed to sit at the natural waistline, elongating the lower body and providing a secure, comfortable base for tucked-in tops.
-
-
The Wash: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Using a mesh laundry bag is recommended to protect the buckle hardware and maintain the crispness of the pleats.
-
The Dry: Line dry in the shade. The polyester-heavy blend is naturally wrinkle-resistant, but air drying ensures the pleat edges remain sharp.
-
The Maintenance: Use a cool iron or a garment steamer if needed to touch up the pleats. Store hanging rather than folded to preserve the structured volume.

For a sharp, monochromatic office look, pair these shorts with a tucked-in black ribbed knit tank and square-toe leather pumps. The structured waist and voluminous hem create a striking hourglass-like contrast.
Alternatively, lean into a relaxed, layered aesthetic by pairing them with a lightweight, striped long-sleeve knit. A pop of color through a lime green handbag adds a contemporary twist to the grounded charcoal tones.
